Robert Walton was a captain whose ship was heading for the North Pole. Trapped by ice in his dangerous voyage, Walton met Victor Frankenstein. Frankenstein was in a weak condition because of the the freezing chill, so Captain Walton took him and nursed him on his ship. During that time, Walton heard the story about Frankenstein's monster.
Victor Frankenstein was a highly intellectual man who had studied natural philosophy and chemistry. The knowledge he had then lured him to the desire to reveal the secret of life. Years later through extensive research, Victor was assured that he had found the secret. With his knowledge, findings, and old body parts, he create a living, monstrous-looking creature. However, the creature frightened him and he ran away from his apartment and wandered into the streets. Accompanied by Henry, he went back to his apartment and found that the monster had gone.
Victor got a letter from his father telling that his brother was murdered. Feeling frightened and sick of his own deed, and grieving for his brother, Victor went home. In that journey, in the woods where his brother was killer, Victor saw a glimpse of his monster. He believed that the creature he created was the murderer of his brother. While in Geneva, after arriving there, Victor found that a girl named Justine Moritz had became the suspect of the murder, tried, and executed. Victor became sad and felt guilty because it was his creation of the monster that lead the dead of two innocent persons he loved.
Victor tried to ease the pain he endure by taking a trip to the mountains, but during that vacation trip, he met the monster. The monster confessed he did murder William but he also explained that he did it to harm Victor. The monster was firious with his lonely and unhappy existence, and he blamed it on Victor, his cruel creator.
The monster badly wanted and begged Victor to create a monster equally grotesque to serve as his sole companion, as his mate. Though refused it at first, Victor finally agreed. Victor carried out his works to create the female monster in a lab in a desolate island, while the monster waiting outside the lab. During the process, filled with fear and doubt, Victor decided to stopped his works and destroyed his female creature. The monster was furious and made a swear that on Victor's wedding night, he would come to Victor.
Victor returned to his home in Geneva. Not so long after that, he married Elizabeth. The monster's vow of revenge scared him so he hide Elizabeth and waited for the monster. However, the monster was not coming for Victor, he was coming for Victor's bride. Victor then decide to went home and soon after, his grieving father died.
Filled with rage and vengeance, Victor made a promise to find the monster he created and had his revenge, even if it would take a lifetime. He started his journey and followed the creature north into the freezing ice realm. And there, he came face to face with the monster. But the ice broke and separated them. After that he got weakened and that's when Walton found him.
The rest of the story is told by Walton in letters to his sister. Walton said that Victor finally died and couple of days later, is startled to see he room where the body lied, he saw the monster crying over Victor. Then the monster told Walton everything about his existence. How he always lived in solitude, how he suffered, the hatred and remorse he felt. In the end, the monster said he would end his miserable existence since his creator now had gone. The monster went for the coldest ice in the far north to die.
