Les Misérables by Victor Hugo is indisputably one of the best classic works not only in French literature but worldwide. First published in 1862, the novel tells about some of the gloomy parts in the history of French. The book vastly explores and vividly describes the political and social lives in the country during the early-mid 19th century, including the fail attempt of the antimonarchy movement of 1832 Paris Uprising.
