From early 1990s, Anton Newcombe has literally been the motor of the band—or the band itself—The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Originally founded in San Fransisco, America, this music group has continuously changed its members, but one thing that it constantly preserves is the electrical style and sound .

Smoking Acid is BJM’s sixth EP (or their 17th release). It was first released in 2009 as the result of Anton Newcombe’s collaboration with Jón Sæmundur Auðarson, and Icelandic musician. This album contains five tracks and its production is strictly limited to 1,000 copies. It still displays the gloomy, wicked psychedelic sound as the rest of the album by the band. Yet, Newcombe shows he has taken another step in his songwriting and his musical vision is heading to a new direction.

This is the self-titled debut from The Presidents of the United States of America, or commonly referred to as PUSA. They are a three-piece rock alternative band from Seattle, USA. One and a half year after Kurt Cobain's death, Nirvana released an album containing their electric live performances recorded from 1989 to 1994. From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah was initially planned by two remaining members of this Seattle grunge band, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl, to be released in 1994 to go along with MTV Unplugged in New York in a double disc format.

During his life, Kurt had often made reference about his experience living under the bridge of Wishkah river, a myth that he tried to build in the song "Something in the Way" (one of the tracks in Nevermind). Though Novoselic—he had known Kurt Cobain since they were still teenagers—denied that myth, they decided to use it to honor the memory of their late band member.

Without any commercial single being released, this Nirvana album was still able to top the Billboard 200 chart. From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah stayed in the chart for 25 weeks and till this day millions of copies has been sold worldwide.

In 1993, Nirvana—famous for their noisy, full-of-feedback guitar, grunge music—made a monumental acoustic concert and that concert later documented into the album Unplugged in New York, which was released in 1994. Nirvana released their debut studio album Bleach in 1989. At that time, they had not earned the “King of Grunge” title yet and they released it under an independent label, Sub Pop. Though at the beginning it still couldn’t break into charts, it was getting warm reaction from the critics.
