Patti Smith (born Patricia Lee "Patti" Smith) is an influential poet, artist, and singer-songwriter whose works and existence played very important role in the development of New York punk rock and art scenes. With her debut album Horses (1975), a brilliant combination of raw rock and roll and poetry, she set herself in a distinct ground and earned the title the “godmother of punk”.
