
First published as a single novel in 1850, David Copperfield became the eighth and one among the best classic works of Charles Dickens. Since many subjects and events in the story are based on Dickens’ personal life, the book is probably the closest to an autobiography in comparison to all of his novels. Dickens himself once wrote, as a preface, "...like many fond parents, I have in my heart of hearts a favourite child. And his name is David Copperfield."
