The Sisterhood series is a young adult novel series written by Ann Brashares. Until now, there are five books in the series with the first volume, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, published in 2001 and the last (fifth) installment, Sisterhood Everlasting, published in 2011.

The story of the series focuses on the lives on four teenage girls namely Carmen Lowell, Tibby Rollins, Bridget Vreeland, and Lena Kaligaris. They are best friends and “The Pants”—for the girls they are magical—are the symbol of their friendship. During summers, The Pants will travel back and forth among the girls. The four of them will be apart and each of them, in turns, will have the pants and then sends them to another girl who will do the same thing. While having The Pants (or not) each girl will face different huge moments and make critical decisions that will affect their lives. Through all the ups and downs, the good times and the bad times of being teenage girls and growing up, the girls always believe in The Sisterhood Vow. The four of them believe that The Pants give them the strength to cope with their problems, that The Pants bring them closer in their friendship, and that The Pants teach them something about life.
