A Home at the End of the World is a contemporary GLBT—“gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender”, as written at goodreads.com—novel written by Pulitzer Prize-winning American author Michael Cunningham. The book was first published in 1990. A year before that, an excerpt from the novel was chosen for 1989 Best American Short Stories after being published in The New Yorker. A film adaptation based on this book was released in 2004 and received generally positive responses from critics.
The story in the novel is narrated in first person point of view by some characters, which is changing in each chapter. Most chapters are told by the two main protagonists, Bobby and Jonathan, with a few chapters narrated by Alice (Jonathan's mother) and Clare (an older woman who has "eccentric" relationship with both Bobby and Jonathan).
