In 1993, Nirvana—famous for their noisy, full-of-feedback guitar, grunge music—made a monumental acoustic concert and that concert later documented into the album Unplugged in New York, which was released in 1994. The Seattle trio of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl performed the calm versions of their hits on stage with some additional musicians including Kurt’s favorite, the Meat Puppet.
Other than then songs they’ve released in previous Nirvana albums and singles, they did some covers of other musician’s songs, including The Vaselines, David Bowie, Meat Puppets, and another Kurt Cobain’s favorite, Lead Belly. The show was organized and aired by MTV network and the album Unplugged in New York skyrocketed to #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in the first week of its released. Critics and fans alike adore it and it listed at #311 in Rolling Stone magazine’s The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
