Started as an online book with 217 pages and being read 20 million times, Diary of a Wimpy Kid was first published in printed version in 2007. It is the first novel in the popular Wimpy Kid series—proved to be very attractive especially to teenage boys—by American author and cartoonist Jeff Kinney. Upon its release, the book immediately became a huge hit and made it into New York Times Best Seller list and won the Favorite Book award at Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
