Russian writer Leo Tolstoy initially wrote Anna Karenina as sequential episodes from 1873 to 1877. It was finally released as a single novel also in 1877. This book is his masterpiece and widely considered as marvelous achievement for its literary quality in realist fiction. The author himself thought of it as his first true novel. Another renowned Russian author, Fyodor Dostoevsky, stated that this particular work of Tolstoy is "flawless as a work of art".
