In the Marvel multi-universe, there is a group of characters from various dimensions, from different realities. They have been removed from time and space. They have a quite remarkable mission, which is to correct problems in various alternate worlds and divergent time-lines.
During the House of M, the Exiles return to Earth-616, the home of one of their members, Beak. Unfortunately, that earth is now under the domination of a new ruler, Magneto and his dynasty. While staying on earth, the Exiles run afoul of the body-hopping serial killer Proteus.
