Based on The Walking Dead comic/graphic novel series, Robert Kirkman (and Jay Bonansinga) wrote a standalone novel version entitled The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor. Originally published in October 2011, the book still preserves the post-apocalyptic horror genre with a world full of zombies as the background. In this book Kirkman further explores one of the most notorious characters in the series, The Governor.
